Napping

Each week, I will send out some handy tips and useful exercises for adults learning to navigate and use the English language. You are welcome to share this newsletter with friends and colleagues.

Oh, how I love a lazy Sunday afternoon nap, especially if it is outdoors with a slight breeze on a beautiful, sunny day. According to the Mayo Clinic, there are numerous benefits for adults to take a quick nap during the day, including improved memory and enhanced performance. They also offer tips for maximizing the benefits of napping. First, keep it short – no more than 20-30 minutes. You want to avoid falling into a deep sleep, as you may wake up feeling groggy instead of rested. Second, napping before 3 pm may cause trouble sleeping at night. Finally, give yourself some time to wake up before resuming activities.
